for print?
Please follow the guidelines specified in the file preparation

- Do you support spot colors?
No. We do not support additional spot colors such as Pantone (PMS) colors. We accept only jobs that have been prepared for four-color commercial offset printing. All spot colors used in your job must be converted to their CMYK equivalents prior to uploading the files to us. We can convert spot colors for you at additional cost at your request.

What if the back of my brochure or sell sheet only contains black type?
That's fine – just prepare your page layout as you normally would but specify the text to be process black.

I downloaded graphics from the Internet. That is all I have, what should I do?
Graphics downloaded from the Internet are usually of 72-dpi resolution. When print on paper, the graphics will look a bit "fuzzy". If that is all you have and you don't mind the "fuzzyness", then upon you permission via email, we can proceed with the job.

Proofing
- Do you offer hard copy proofs?
No. Providing you a hard copy proof would significantly increase your cost and shipping time. Often hard copy proofs are not always color accurate anyway. Instead, we will email proofs to you in Adobe PDF format. These files will be optimized to reduce download time but are still quite accurate for general color, a final proofreading of text, bleeds, placement of folds, graphics inclusion, and font usage.

- How good is an online proof?
An online proof is a low-resolution, digital impression of the files you submit for print. It gives you an opportunity to check the layout, bleeds, crops and final text.
There is no guarantee that printed color will be exactly the same as the online color. We will give your job individual attention. We'll do our absolute best to match the colors in your proof - however, monitors do vary and ink is different than pixels.
Go to Top
- How long does it take to receive the online proof?
Within two business days after we receive your order, we will pre-flight your files and send an online proof to you via email.

- What does it mean when you pre-flight a file?
Pre-flight refers to the process of examining your files before they are sent off to our printing facility. We check for specific problems such as:
- Are the graphics in the files all present or embedded?
- Are the graphic files submitted at high resolution for printing? That is are they at least 300 dpi?
- Have all graphic files been submitted as CMYK?
- Has all the type been rasterized?
- Are the dimensions of the file the same as what has been requested?
- Has sufficient bleed area been given?
- Is important information contained within the specified live area?
Go to Top
- How much do you charge to pre-flight an order?
The first pre-flight is offered at no extra charge. If we find problems in your files you will be notified by our customer service representative who will explain the problem. Then email the files back to the customer service representative who contacted you and we will pre-flight again. Each additional pre-flight will cost $30.

- Why do people choose no-proof?
The no-proof option allows you to get your print job done as quickly as possible, without a delay for proof approval. Just check the no-proof option on the ordering page and we will do our best to pre-flight the files and make necessary adjustments before printing.

- What should I do if you find problems in my files?
You can fix the problems yourself
(please check out the file preparation page for more information) then email the files back to the customer representative who contacted you, and we will pre-flight again at $30.
Alternatively, we can fix the problems for you. You may request a price quote from the customer representative. The price quote will be based on $60 hourly rate.
If we were to fix the problems, second-round pre-flight won't be necessary.

Printing
- What is the turn around time?
It takes 7 to 10 business days from the day we receive your approval of the proof, to the print job delivery at your door..

- What kind of paper do you print on?
By default, all brochures are printed on 100# text stock, which is thicker than regular copy paper. Postcards are printed on 100# card stock.
If you have special requirements for paper stock or type of printing, please fill out our custom quote form and we will be get back to you promptly.
The paper we use at 199Print has a substantial feel but is also light enough that it is economical for use in direct mail campaigns.
Of course, the best way to see this for yourself is to request our FREE Sample Pak.

- Can you explain the different types of optional coatings you offer? How will they affect the look of my job?
Although the paper we use is already smooth and shiny, some people prefer to have additional coatings applied – both for enhanced durability and to add a more dramatic “look and feel”.
The coatings we apply are actually very thin plastic films. The extra rigidity of these films substantially affects the feel or “snap” of the paper but doesn't add much weight. Jobs with the film applied just “feel” heavier.
The glossy film adds a lively sparkle to your job while the matte film offers a sense of subtle sophistication. Additionally, the film coatings also help the paper resist tearing and protect against water damage. If your brochures will be sent unprotected through the mail you should definitely order the optional film coating. Ask for our FREE Sample Pak to judge for your self. Contact us and we'll be glad to you a Sample Pak by first-class mail.
